This book Weight Loss Triad: A Comprehensive Guide to lasting Weight Loss  is written by someone who knows what he is talking about, as Dr Thomas Halton is the owner of Fitness Plus, he is a nutrition counselling and personal training company based in Boston. He is a graduate of Harvard university with a Doctorate in Nutrition and also holds masters degrees in Human Nutrition and Exercise Science.

In the few pages of the preview reading of this book I thought this book may have something a little different to all the very many diet books I have read. Sadly it wouldn’t give it secrets away, but reading the reviews that were included were extremely favourable, and gave an inkling to what it is all about. Apparently you combine a good diet, with cardio exercise and resistance training.

The youtube videos are about strength training, the first is a short one about the importance of strength training, and the second one is a beginner’s exercise training routine for your benefit. I am going to give this a try and see how it goes, dieting on its own gets more difficult the older you are, and I have reached the point where i just give up and carry on gaining weight or try something different.

It is the resistance training that peaks my interest, as I am constantly eating sensibly and exercising sensibly but still gaining weight, but in this book the missing factor is the resistance training, and also sadly, because I have a sweet tooth, the ruthless removal of sugar in my diet. I don’t eat much, I don’t bake, eat cakes or biscuits, but I do like ice-cream, not much just a small choc bar after lunch. I guess that will have to go.
My husband is an avid gardener, so during the summer months we eat ‘the garden’, that is full of wonderful berry fruits, salads, potatoes, corn on the cob, marrows and courgettes, and apples, plums and pears and also grapes, if we have a good summer. All this good food does put on the pounds, even though it is ‘healthy’ food. But after all my husband’s hard work, you just can’t allow all this wonderful, fresh, organic produce, eaten off the vine produce, go to waste.
