Ever since I was a young child sent to boarding school the main staple of our diet was bread, and far too much of it. It lead to quite serious health problems, even when I was quite young, just aged 10 years, I found I couldn’t carry on eating the vast amount of bread, and changed to crisp bread, which because I was a child I didn’t like at all.
I have noticed similar problems in my daughter, she has had to give up bread, especially white, but she used to suffer from bloat and could go up two dress sizes in a day. If she stopped eating bread she would soon revert to normal. We do still eat bread in our household, but limit it to no more than a slice a day, and make sure we toast it.
